Soul Urge Calculator

Calculate your Soul Urge (Heart's Desire) number from the vowels of your full birth name using 9Glyph's transparent Pythagorean, component-first reduction method.

You'll need: your full birth name, including middle name(s) when present. If Y appears, you'll classify each occurrence as a vowel or consonant.

Calculate your Soul Urge number

Enter your full birth name. Soul Urge uses the vowel letters only, with each occurrence of Y classified by you when clarification is needed.

Full birth name

Use your name as recorded at birth. Do not include titles, prefixes, or suffixes.

For a mononym, enter your single birth name here and leave the other name fields blank.

Include all middle names in this one field.

Keep multi-word family names together. Leave this blank if your birth name is a mononym.

Your birth name is used only for calculations on this page. 9Glyph does not save it to browser storage or place it in share links.

Editing the birth name or changing a Y choice keeps your last completed calculation visible. It updates only after you calculate again.

What a Soul Urge number describes

Soul Urge, sometimes called the Heart's Desire, uses the vowel letters of the full birth name as a symbolic lens for inner motivation.

9Glyph interprets the result through emotional needs, fulfillment, and private priorities rather than as a prediction or fixed personality label.

How the Soul Urge calculation works

Soul Urge uses the vowel letters of the full birth name. A, E, I, O, and U always participate. Each participating letter is converted to its Pythagorean value from 1 through 9.

9Glyph processes the name component by component. Participating vowels in the Given / First Name, Middle Name(s), and Family / Last Name are summed and reduced separately with Master Numbers preserved. Those reduced component values are then added together and reduced again.

Use the full birth name, including middle name(s). Titles, prefixes, and suffixes are not part of the calculation. Spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, and other punctuation have no numeric value. Supported Latin diacritics are normalized to their base letters for calculation.

Y is handled occurrence by occurrence. 9Glyph never silently decides whether a Y acts as a vowel or consonant. When a Y is present, the calculator asks you to classify that specific occurrence before calculating.

A Y classified as a vowel participates in Soul Urge. A Y classified as a consonant does not. The same occurrence-level decision is reusable by the shared Personality calculation.

If the validated birth name contains no participating vowels under the selected Y classifications, Soul Urge is reported as unavailable. 9Glyph does not invent a Number 0.

Example Calculation: Mira Solen

This is a fixed fictional calculation example used to demonstrate the Soul Urge method. It is not your personal result.

The example contains no Y, so no vowel-or-consonant clarification is required. It is processed with the same shared name workflow, Y validation layer, and Soul Urge engine used by the interactive calculator.

  1. Given / First NameI(9) + A(1) = 10 → 1
  2. Family / Last NameO(6) + E(5) = 11
  3. Combine the reduced vowel components1 + 11 = 12
  4. Final reduction12 → 3

How 9Glyph interprets a Soul Urge result

Each supported number has one shared canonical meaning. The Soul Urge calculator then applies a Soul Urge-specific lens to that number rather than inventing a second contradictory meaning.

The Soul Urge lens emphasizes inner motivation, emotional needs, fulfillment, and private priorities. It is a reflective framework rather than a claim that a number fixes personality, desire, or future outcomes.

Master Numbers remain connected to their single-digit roots without being ranked above other numbers. Karmic Debt, when genuinely present at the final compound position, adds a growth overlay rather than replacing the ordinary interpretation.

Common Soul Urge number questions

What is a Soul Urge number?

A Soul Urge number is calculated from the vowel letters of the full birth name. 9Glyph uses it as a symbolic lens for inner motivation, emotional needs, fulfillment, and private priorities rather than as a fixed prediction.

Is Soul Urge the same as Heart's Desire?

Yes. Soul Urge and Heart's Desire are two common names for the same vowel-based birth-name calculation.

Which name should I use for my Soul Urge number?

Use your full birth name, including middle name or middle names when present. Do not include titles, prefixes, or suffixes. Mononyms and multi-word family names are supported.

Which letters count in a Soul Urge calculation?

A, E, I, O, and U always participate. Y participates only when that specific occurrence is classified as a vowel. Other consonants do not participate in the Soul Urge total.

How does 9Glyph handle the letter Y in Soul Urge?

9Glyph does not silently guess. If Y appears in the birth name, each occurrence is presented separately so you can classify it as a vowel or consonant. The same occurrence-level choice is then used consistently by the shared name-number system.

What happens if no vowels participate?

The Soul Urge result is reported as unavailable. 9Glyph does not invent a Soul Urge 0 when the validated birth name and Y classifications contain no participating vowel letters.

How are Master Numbers handled in Soul Urge?

The 9Glyph method preserves 11, 22, and 33 during component-first reduction. Their single-digit roots remain relevant, and Master Numbers are not treated as better or more important than other results.

Can a Soul Urge number include Karmic Debt?

Yes, when 13, 14, 16, or 19 appears at the meaningful final compound position. 9Glyph presents Karmic Debt as an additional growth lens rather than as punishment or a prediction of bad events.
